Jay Schoenfeldt has a multifaceted connection to real estate. He has been investing in Los Angeles properties since 2002 and became a successful agent after receiving his sales license in 2005. In 2010, he earned his broker’s license and started the boutique brokerage firm Brick & Mortar Real Estate, raising the bar on superior real estate service.
Years of navigating market cycles for his clients, overseeing multiple investment property renovations, and confidently closing sales with finesse enables Jay to stay on top of his game. Jay’s expertise spans Miracle Mile in the center of Los Angeles as well as nearby Carthay, Hancock Park, Beverly Grove, Hollywood Hills, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Larchmont Village, Hollywood Dell, Hollywood, Los Feliz, and Silver Lake. He specializes in representing sellers and buyers of residential homes and multi-family income properties throughout the City of Angels. There’s no better guide and advocate to have on your side.
Jay believes that building long-term relationships is more important than a particular financial transaction. With every new client, he adjusts his approach to best benefit their individual needs. He takes pride in educating his clients, so they know the details of the purchase or sale they’re about to make. And since Jay himself also invests in real estate, he offers his clients first-hand renovation experience and advises them how to efficiently manage their rental properties.
Jay called Silver Lake home for 12 years before moving to Miracle Mile in 2012, where he resides with his partner, Dave, and their Havanese, Bear. Outside of real estate, Jay is passionate about giving back to his community and supports many charities, including the Alzheimer’s Association, The Trevor Project, and KCRW. But he is most proud of the funds he’s raised for AIDS/LifeCycle where he cycled 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles (twice!). He intends to make this ride a third time in 2022.
Some people purchase a home to create a sense of financial or emotional security... some look to real estate as a way of creating a particular lifestyle, some buy in a neighborhood to cultivate a sense of belonging or to tap into a desirable school district. Some see real estate as the fertile soil to raise a family or create memories... some understand — and trade-in on — the investment potential that can come from owning an appreciating asset.
At its core, real estate is always about different things to different people. We get that. That’s why the key to working with anyone is a clear understanding of what’s most important to them... and working thoughtfully and tirelessly to secure it.
At Brick & Mortar Real Estate, we secure your greatest investment.
I absolutely believe in having a good time on this planet, otherwise what’s the point? I have a great time when I partake in the world around me. When I am not selling real estate, I am passionate about:
I believe in helping out whenever possible. Charities I support are:
My great grandmother emigrated from Austria to New York in the early 1900’s.
By the time she had my grandfather, she owned the building in Coney Island where the first Nathan’s Hot Dogs stood. As a child, my grandfather would collect rent from Nathan’s.
Years later when I was growing up, my father would take me to visit his real estate development sites before enjoying whatever 1980’s comedy matinee was playing that weekend.
Real estate is in my blood - thank you, Dad and Great Grandma Gussie.
For me success is knowing that each client is given the care and attention to feel confident in their sale. It is never losing sight that they have entrusted me to help them make a well-informed, financial decision.
